Decoration Techniques

The Spike's in house team is specially trained in various decoration techniques to help bring your Awards vision to life! From a simple and elegant engraving on a gold plate to a bright full color sublimated design, we have the experience and knowledge to get your message of appreciation and honor across.

Engraving

Cut or carve (text or design) on the surface of a hard object.

Laser Engraving

Laser Engraving is the process of using a light beam that is highly focused to a point to burn away the top layers of substrate to expose the layers of material underneath.

Diamond Engraving

The use of “dragging” an industrial diamond across metal substrates to create engraved lines.

Rotary Engraving

The use of specific “cutters & tools” in conjunction with spinning to engrave lines into thin metals, or carve lines into plastics or thicker metals.

Etching/Sand Blasting

The process of using sand to either carve into a substrate or for the use of finishing a laser engraved piece.

Printing

Sublimation

A change directly from the solid to the gaseous state without becoming liquid. • Both full color and black & white images are printed from printers equipped with sublimatable toner or ink. • The images are then transferred from the paper onto a substrate with a polyester coating (special metals, plastics, fabrics etc.) using a heat press.!

Digital Printing

Directly printing on a substrate • The use of a special flat bed printer that uses a curable ink that adheres to the surface of the substrate.

Vinyl Plotting

A large format cutter that cuts vinyl of various thickness and colors based on shape outlines.
